Every year, fire cause considerable personal and property damage. In the case of personal damage, toxic fumes are normally responsible, which spread to escape routes and can considerable compromise orientation.
Wherever special special buildings do not permit adherence to building requirements, customised fire protection concepts must be developed that are suitable for the special utilisation requirements.

Innovative methods, such as computer-aided fire simulation and protective concepts based on this, ensure that you are perfectly equipped for emergencies.

TÜV NORD uses the following engineering methods for establishing planned or existing deviations:

  • Fire simulations for determining the spread of fire and smoke within the building (computer simulation)
  • Evacuation calculations
  • Measurement of components in the event of fire
  • Consideration of the thermal material properties
  • Smoke trials for checking the building design


Together with our thermal and fluid dynamics experts, we can calculate both the building's smoke movement and its air-conditioning using a model.
