European train protection systems

Railway systems have had a regional and, later, national history of evolution since the beginning of the 19th century. Completely different train control systems have accordingly arisen in the course of time. Only recently was an attempt made to reverse this trend through introduction of the ETCS (European Train Control System). However, the various European train control systems already in existence will remain until the entire infrastructure has been modified.
TÜV NORD's experts offer the support necessary for meeting the safety requirements posed by integration and migration of the diverse train control systems. We provide advice on operational boundary conditions and necessary bodies of rules, particularly where transitions are concerned.
