IFM develops EU Clean Vehicle Portal
The Institute for Vehicle Technology of TÜV NORD Mobilität (IFM) is creating an internet portal for the European Union. The portal will present and describe "clean" and energy-efficient vehicles. It offers vehicle fleet operators, public authorities, operators of public transport and also private individuals support when making vehicle purchasing decisions. The portal serves as an instrument for implementation of the "Clean Vehicle Directive" (2009/33/EC). It requires that impacts on energy and the environment that are associated with operation of the vehicle over its entire lifetime are taken into consideration each time a road vehicle is purchased - as is provided for in the EU procurement regulations and regulations for public services.
The portal is offered all over Europe in 26 languages and includes information about vehicles of Classes M1, M2, M3, N1, N2 and N3, as well as offering a platform for joint procurement and information on national funding programmes.
Users can:
- search and research each make and type of vehicle
- collect information about the vehicles in an individual list which can be saved and printed and which enables the user to compare the different vehicles
- communicate and work together with other users
- receive information about national funding programmes for clean vehicles in all EU countries
The Clean Vehicle Portal has been open to the public since 03.12.2010 and will be subject to ongoing development until March 2012. At the present time, the portal contains all passenger cars and small vans, including electric vehicles. Buses and trucks are to follow in the near future.
