Emissions trading (EU-ETS)
Verification of emission reports
Since 2005, plant operators have been obliged by law to determine the emissions caused by their activities each year based on standard criteria, and to have the emissions verified. The results have to be reported to the relevant authorities and CO2 certificates corresponding to the actual emissions have to be returned to the relevant EU member state governments.
TÜV NORD CERT extended its range of services to cover this field of activity right at the beginning when emissions trading was established - and today has in-depth know-how and a wide range of experience in this area. This means that we can offer valuable assistance to companies concerned with emissions trading by offering services precisely tailored to their needs - in the first phase, for example, by answering the following questions:
- How high are the CO2 emissions of a plant?
- Is it necessary to purchase further certificates or can certificates be sold?
- What measures would be useful for reducing the CO2 emissions of your plant?
- Would modernisation of the plant be worthwhile for other reasons (e.g. funding according to the German combined heat and power act KWK-Gesetz)?
- Is it possible to participate in emissions trading with a state of the art plant, despite not being obliged to do so?
In the next step we:
- review your monitoring concepts
- consider the parameters and systems used to determine and monitor the information which is provided
- supply proof of the actual efficiency of the plant in good time for the relevant deadline
- offer process and data analysis on site and
- have our experts verify the information given in your emission report
