Consumers are paying increasing attention to what they eat and only want to consume high-quality food which is free of defects; in addition to the price, quality is the most important purchasing criterion. TÜV NORD CERT offers the "Controlled Quality" test mark for food manufacturers so they can communicate the quality, legality and safety of their food products at first sight and gain a competitive edge over similar items on the market.
Tailormade product testing
Grant of the "Controlled Quality" mark for food is not only the result of a general inspection, but of product testing aimed specifically at food. The test mark rests on basic certification according to one of these standards: IFS Food, BRC Global Standard Food, ISO 22000, ISO 90001 and HACCP, or ISO 9001 and QS. The manufacturer also has to provide a risk assessment concerning, among other things, raw materials, packaging materials, outsourced processes and external services.
Based on a further risk assessment, TN may undertake further activities, such as for example supplier audits.
In addition to auditing of manufacturers and suppliers, the products themselves are regularly checked with regard to declaration, identification marking etc. Test purchases are also carried out, with subsequent laboratory examination of the products (POS Monitoring).

Companies who can display the "Controlled Quality" test mark on their products are sending an important signal: the product and its manufacturer are trustworthy, because they fulfil strict requirements as to product quality and safety.
